Agricultural work has already begun in the Krasnodar Territory. Preparation for the new season is in full swing.
This spring, the region plans to expand the area of gardens by 900 hectares. This was reported in the Ministry of Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Region.
At this point, about 320 hectares of orchards are already laid. Most of them (about 225 hectares) are gardens of the intensive type, another 54 hectares are superintensive. Mostly apple trees are being planted.
According to the vice-governor Andrey Korobka, who oversees the development of the agro-industrial complex in the Krasnodar region, in 2019 approximately 703 million rubles were allocated from the budget for the development of gardening. Of these, 101 million will go to grant support for farmers.
Mr Korobka emphasized that the horticultural industry in the region has been developing steadily and confidently in recent years. Last year, a record was broken for laying new agricultural land and for harvesting.
The regional authorities are expecting to at least reach the results of 2018, but climate events may make their own adjustments to the respective plans.
Meanwhile, municipal authorities are not missing the opportunity to use the leading results of the region in the field of horticulture to increase potential benefits. So, amongst current priority tasks is construction of complete production cycles – from growing fruits and berries to processing them and producing finished products.
